Learning and Engagement Freelancer

About the Role
The Trust is looking to grow its team of dedicated Freelancers help deliver our popular and ever-expanding education and communities programme.
Our programme consists of; costumed role-play sessions, object handling, nights at the Museum, Children’s Holiday Club, store tours and talks. These are run either as an on-site visit or as outreach.

Main Responsibilities
·       Work closely with the Museum and Archive team as well as other Freelancers to provide high-quality sessions for a range of audiences i.e. children, young people and adults.
·       Support the delivery of our education and communities programme which cover topics such as Victorians, WW2, textiles, design, crafting and local history.
·       Ensure the learning needs and objectives for each group are met.
·       Be available to set up and clear down for each session.
·       Ensure all handling objects and/or resources are cared for and maintained at a high standard.
·       Be a representative of the Trust when delivering any of our programmes in any capacity.
·       Personally ensure all legal requirements relating to health and safety, safeguarding and insurance are adhered to and kept up to date.
·       The majority of bookings are organised Monday- Friday, 10:00am-3:00pm.
·       Some evening and weekend work may be required.

·       Someone who is proactive, enthusiastic and adaptable.
·       Enjoys working and interacting with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
·       Are confident in delivering engaging learning experiences.
·       Has a keen interest for museums, heritage and history.

Person Specification Requirements:
Essential
·       Previous teaching experience either in a heritage setting or mainstream education.
·       Flexible availability including occasional weekend and evening work.
·       Experience of working with children and young people with special education needs.
·       Able to work independently but also be a keen team player.
·       This position is subject to a DBS check.

Desirable
·       Knowledge of the national curriculum.
·       A full, clean driving licence.

Salary
This is a freelance contract, paid at £20 per hour.
