Joining the Museum team in May 2016, Polly has begun a huge retail transformation for our gift shop. She brings in experience from her previous position as Project Manager for a retail resilience review at six Derbyshire museums to help improve and develop the marketing and retail departments of Braintree District Museum. Her favorite objects in our collection are the large blue and white apothecary jars. You can find these in our John Ray Gallery. Polly is based in the office Tuesday- Saturday.
Robert has been with Braintree District Museum for 19 years; manages the Museum and Warner Textile Archive and regularly reports to the Museum Trust Board. Following his archaeology and social history background his favourite Museum objects include the Neolithic flint dagger from Marlborough Road, Braintree and the series of photographs of mostly women working during World War I for Crittall Manufacturing Company.
Before 2009 Claire was a Curator at Stevenage Museum. Since then, she has become the Collections Manager here; getting involved with all aspects of Museum life. Being based in an old school building is her favorite thing about the Museum, as well as our wonderful Victorian Classroom which is open during normal opening hours. Claire works part-time, with her days in the office being Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Laura started her time at Braintree District Museum as a Freelance Object Handler. She then moved into the role of Education Officer in May 2016. She therefore feels very privileged to get the opportunity to work with schools and communities in the local area. Laura is based in the office Monday – Friday.
